I was browsing around CNN.com, getting my “news on” and stumbled onto this story; Fight over baby’s life support! It’s a sad story, no matter how you look at it! I feel horrible for the mother having to watch her baby struggle with Leigh’s disease, knowing there is no cure. Right now, the baby is on a ventilator, which is breathing for the child. The child cannot eat, speak or see and per medical experts, the baby is suffering painfully.
I don’t know what I would choose to do if ever put in this situation, as the “medical expert” or “mother”. I can’t imagine the decision to choose life over death is easy for either party, honestly.
I guess for me, not having a child and not being in that situation, it’s easy for me to say the child’s suffering isn’t worth keeping him on life support. I, honestly, don’t think I’d want my child to suffer at all and if medical experts told me my child was suffering, I think I’d choose to stop his or her suffering.
At the same time.. I have nephews and a niece that I am very close to. It would be very difficult to be in a situation where this became a decision for our family. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to think about.
What are your thoughts?
Today, everyone needs insurance! Whether it’s for medical or dental purposes! If you own a vehicle, you also need car insurance! You wouldn’t want to drive your truck or car and not have it insured knowing there’s always a possibility of getting into an accident! Did you know there is even pets insurance?
Home Insurance is another very important insurance to have! Most lenders will not finance your home loan without proper home insurance! It’s far too risky! After all, it’s there to protect their investment interests and yours! You wouldn’t want to be caught without good insurance on your home when things like a fire, flood or even burglary happen!
I wonder how many of you knew you could even get travel insurance? That’s right, coverage for not only things like travel delays or cancellations but also loss of luggage or cash!
Well, I spoke with the bank! This is their verdict; We can keep the truck here. We can continue making our regular payments. But, BUT.. BUT, they refuse to give us permission to do so! I may not be the brightest person at times.. but even I know this just wreaks! They want us to continue to pay for the truck but legally not be able to drive it because without their permission, we can’t register it and because we wouldn’t be able to register it, we can’t put insurance on it!!!! Now, that’d be fine if you didn’t have to have insurance on a vehicle but I’m almost certain that even with a “parked” vehicle, you have to have insurance on it. Isn’t that what protects ME as the payer and them as the lender, protected in cases of burglary? Doh!
They make absolutely no sense at all! You’d think their biggest concern would be them not losing money and that so doesn’t appear to be the case. Pffth!
I talked to my dad earlier. He wants to do whatever he can to help but I really don’t know that there’s very much that he can do at all! But, if he’s willing to try.. I’m willing to accept!
At some point in life, everyone needs to borrow money! It could be for a personal loan to help you purchase a new car or maybe make improvements to your home through a secured loan.
At Thriftyscot Loans, you can also look into applying for a debt consolidation loan where you can combine your other debts, into one payment. Sometimes through debt consolidation you’re able to turn the interests rates from the other loans, into one interest rate! In my experience, after taking out a debt consolidation loan, my monthly payment decreased!
If you’re someone who’s worried about your “bad credit history”, no worries, there are lenders who’s loans cater to people with blotched credit history! If you keep up with your payments and make them on time, you’ll see that reflected in time, in your credit report!
If you’re looking to borrow money, Thriftyscot Loans, may be an option for you!
I woke up about an hour ago! When I did, I could see rays of sunshine bleeding through our blinds! I peeked out to see what kind of day we’d be having (clear, partly cloudy) and wow!! It looks like it’s going to be another gorgeous day! I think we’ll take another long walk today! I haven’t been outside just yet but it looks like it’s going to be warm, like yesterday!
One thing I love about being here is the fact that the daytimes in the Spring and Summer are warm but at night, it still cools off! That’s the best times for a long walk/run or bike ride!
I dread what I’m about to do though. I have to phone the bank back, again, about the truck! I am just so tired of this entire mess! It’s driving me crazy! I’m almost at the end of my ropes! I’d just about rather them have the thing, than me. :/
If you are like me, financial planning is one of the most important things! Since we moved, we have both set ourselves new short term and long term financial goals, something I think everyone should do too! Through Jo’s work, he opts into a program where a portion of his check is invested for our future! We like to call this our second savings account!

Let their staffs expertise help you plan your own financial future! If you’re new to investing, they’ll help you with the process and in getting started!

This makes me sad! “Waycross” is about 40 miles SE from Douglas, GA. Which is where we used to live (for about 6 years). I really hope they’re able to protect Okefenokee Swamp from the fire! I’ve been keeping up with the story since it broke. It appears that the fire is really close to the swamp now. :/
I was also reading my hometown’s news website and see that the Blue Angels have canceled their show at the Vidalia Onion Festival this weekend. No one can blame them after the tragedy this past weekend, I think everyone knew they would need to cancel. I think the air show will still be pretty fun for those attending! I really wish I could be there for it.. for the entire festival! I used to go with my sister every year, even after the kids came! The kids always enjoyed the “street dance” and the air show! My dad’s favorite part is the Onion Run because he always run in it. For 63 years old, he’s one several medals! :]
I’ve been blogging in a somewhat private place. Nothing super duper top secret, in fact, it’s more or less the same daily dribbling I do here but if you’re interested.. you are more than welcome to visit!
Jo and I went for a walk tonight, as mentioned over at Girl Talk. It was so nice out, the cool air felt fantastic against my skin! It was a wee bit windy, so my hair looked twenty kinds of wonky by the time our walk was complete but it was worth it! It’s 10:30pm now and I’m considering going for another! tehe!

It’s been a gorgeous day! Despite the many clouds in the sky, the sun is out and it’s +16! I’m going to take a walk in about an hour and hopefully get some shots of the skyline! I took a few of the mountains earlier but I haven’t uploaded them, so I’m not sure if they turned out!
I just got off of the phone with my mom! She said my grandmother was doing so much better today! I’m so glad! She has good days and bad days all the time, usually they’re bad days so it’s great when she has a good one!
We’re hoping mama and Tammy will be able to visit us this summer! I think they will, pending how my grandmother is doing at the time! I think they’d both love it here! I know Tammy will love it if they visit during the Stampede! She’s all about rodeo’s! lol
How appropriate this will be!
I’ve had personal, hands on experience on both sides of Bank Charges! As a customer, I’ve dealt with my previous bank charging so many different fees! I’ve only been on the receiving end of these fees a handful of times but that was more than enough for me! We had two separate checking accounts setup with our last bank and one savings account! They were supposed to be all tied together, though we would use the checking accounts for separate purposes! For instance, we’d use one for bills and everyday things and the second for purchases we may do online, like through ebay or with our paypal account! Our savings account was set up as an “Overdraft protection” plan, so that if we calculated something wrong, we’d still be in the good because the funds would be pulled from our savings account, into our checking account! I can remember several times where our second account was overdrawn and the bank kept charging US a fee! They paid the item that tried to clear then charged us $37 for them to clear it. Each day the account remained in the negative, we were charged $2! Eventually, it was around $45 in the hole by the time we got a statement of the accounts balance!
We quickly called the bank and asked them to explain what happened! Of course, their attitudes were as if this had all been our fault and we were told we should’ve been more responsible with our accounts and kept up with our spending! We kept our cool and explained to them that THEY were supposed to tie all of our accounts together to prevent all of this!
In the end, we were the ones who had to “fix” the issue! No matter how much we explained, they refused to see it from our side! If we’d originally had thought to set ourselves up with “Online banking”, we could’ve caught these errors a lot sooner and saved ourselves a few headaches and $’s! Our experience, to date, with online banking has been great! I find it a lot more convenient than phoning our bank or going there in person! We can also set ourselves up to pay the majority of our bills online!
This was also the bank I once worked for, so I can see things from both sides! We had a small branch located in the northern part of our town, which was primarily used by employees at the plants and factories in that area! That was also one of the poorer ends of town! After our bank decided to expand, they opened what is now known as “The Main Office”. This main office was located in the center of town! Shortly after opening, we were told the smaller office would be closing down because there was no longer a need! No longer a need? They had hundreds and hundreds of valuable customers there! From Monday - Friday, from open to close, this small branch was booming! There were days we had to call for help! “The Main Office” was also just as busy now, so the need was still there!
To this day, that has not changed! The bank cannot keep up with the business but spent so much money on this elaborate new office, that the customers in areas like our small branch were in, suffered!
At Thriftyscot you can read up on Current Accounts and Savings Accounts!

It seems as though the time is off in my wordpress! Pffth! I’ll have to get that fixed! For some reason it’s showing up as CST (Central Standard Time) and not Mountain Time, which is what I’m on now!
Nothing with the vehicle has been resolved! We had to go way across town to take care of some business earlier and the woman who’s handling the “lien holder” issues at the bank called and left a message. By the time we got the message, they bank had already closed! Guess I’ll be giving them a call bright and early!
At this point, I couldn’t careless either way. I’m just tired of dealing with it! Driving here is rather annoying most of the time, I just enjoy the freedom of depending on me and me alone, you know?
I know I do! I found a great site that offers coupon codes to a large variety of stores! It’s Coupon Chief! You can get coupons for places like Best Buy, which happens to be one of my personal favorites, you know being a digital junkie and all!! And being “domesticated”, you know I’m going to be all over the Wal-mart coupons!
While you’re there, you should also check out Dell Home for coupons! They’ve got some pretty amazing deals for all of you computer junkies!!
There is just such a wide range of stores that you can choose from! There’s even one for Kohls!! I know some of will just love that!!
So head on over to Coupon Chief and check them out!
Not because “I’m am woman” but because I am angry. Oh yes! The problem mentioned here, still has not been resolved! In fact, I feel like we’re just going around and around in circles! The lien holder just refuses to understand that we have MOVED to Canada. That it was a necessary move and not a move out of luxury (even though we are benefiting because Jo makes 3 times more money). He overstayed his visit in the states, which we did not know until we went to Newfoundland in December! We were under the impression that he was legally there because the immigration visited his place of work on a very regular basis! All has always been straight with his paperwork, so we never thought it wasn’t until December! We had no real choice, unless we wanted to pay hefty fines on top of doing the legal paperwork all over again (you watch the news, you know the fines).
So we moved! Did we run away? No, if we had, I would’ve gone somewhere exotic or some place like Ireland. I would’ve never stayed on the continent or given the lien holder my new phone numbers, address and so on, as mentioned in my previous post.
This has turned into a huge nightmare! So if we aren’t allowed to keep our vehicle here, we are told we can “surrender” the vehicle to them and get a receipt that it’s been paid in full. Hey, that’s great.. right? NO! Not only because I’d like to keep my vehicle and feel they have no reason to believe we won’t pay, since we’ve been paying since day one but because of this; I’d be driving across country, 3100 miles, as a woman, alone.. on a 4 day drive! Are they flipping nuts?? Of course they are! They are so worried they won’t get paid, yet they want me to spend $400-500 on a cross country trip to take this truck back to them??? Then how will I get back? Oh, they suggested I take a plane. Sure, I’m terrified of flying.. that’s a great idea! Flying for the first time, alone.. and how much will that cost? From the looks of it, anywhere from $680 - 1000!!! Add that to the cost of traveling across country!
That is so absurd. They are morons if they expect me to do this! I’ve been in touch with my dad and my attorney, we’re waiting to hear back from the lien holder one last time (they’re trying to see if there’s anything that can be worked out, since in the beginning, there was no problem)!
I told Jo, since we were told that he wasn’t legal to work there any longer (for 6 months).. and hadn’t been for years (we did not know that).. that we should file a suit against the lien holder for allowing him to be on a loan for a vehicle, without a drivers license and without the proper legal paperwork to do so. I don’t know if that’d work but in my head, it sounds like a great plan. lol
I am just so angry with these people and so frustrated! I’d been out of work for over a year! A year folks! That’s one year that I was not helping support our financial obligations! My search for work always led to nothing because the town I lived in closed down so many plants, which put so many people out of work.. who eventually became my competition and many of these people were in areas like “payroll” “management” “human resources” and “administration”. They have the same skills I have and the majority had more experience (a lot of those workers worked for those plants for 10+ years). I would venture out with a friend and we’d put in applications.. we’d never hear back and we were both qualified!
So here we are. Spinning wheels. I wish they’d go on and call me back.. I just want to figure this mess out. :[
