Daycare

I know this is not always the case but when I see something like this, it really makes me not want to ever put my own children (in the event I have them) into daycare. Could you imagine taking your child to daycare, to be looked after by someone you apparently trusted only to find out something like that happened to him / her? The child was 2 years old. All of the 2 year olds I’ve been around have been unwilling to settle down from time to time. Children go through those kinds of phases where they’re fussy and what not. It’s called “The terrible two’s”. If you don’t have the patience to care for children, notice the plural, then you seriously don’t need to be in any career or position where you’re their caregiver.

This is such a tragedy. I can’t imagine why this woman would even think what she did was “ok” or justified. At all!

Credit

When it comes to Credit Cards, my experience has been pretty good. I have only had one Credit Card since I have been able to apply for them. The card I took out, had a very low interest rate after the 0% I got for the first year. This was really nice because a lot of people that I knew, had interest rates above 18%. I made sure I did my research and went with the card that suited my needs best. I also chose to get a lower limit, than what most places offered because I didn’t want to get myself in a whole lot of debt. I used my card, primarily, for emergencies. On one occasion I paid off the remainder of a small loan (the rate was way higher than the card) and I paid off some medical expenses that had been haunting me! I’ve known people to use credit cards to pay their bills and while I haven’t had to do that myself, I think something like that could definitely benefit me from time to time.

At Credit Card UK, you can compare different types of cards, like bad credit cards, business credit cards, cashback credit cards and so many more! If you’re thinking of getting a credit card yourself, you should definitely be asking the question “What’s in it for me?”!

One week

A week from today, my youngest sister Nikki will be married. I know I’ve said it a few times but I really wish I could be there for it! It’s a once in a life time thing, you know? And I’m going to miss it! Sure, if things don’t work out there’s always a chance she may remarry but this is her first marriage (hopefully her only, I really hope it works for them).

I’m not sure who all will be there. I know it’s a small ceremony and know for a fact my dad, his girlfriend Kim and my mom will be there. I doubt Tammy will go, even though she’s invited. Someone will have to stay with my grandmother anyway. She’s still sick, though doing fairly well recently.

I know Tammy would like to be there though. I know how she feels!

If you are currently burdened by the debts caused by credits cards, car loans or even student loans, did you know by taking out a home equity loan, you can consolidate those debts into one payment! They can even help with covering an unexpected medical bill or improvements and renovations to your home! That was easy

Tonight, after emailing me husband (yes, I am weak and took the easy way out of things haha) we had a nice chat about our “future”. He understands that I’m not 100% happy here, yet I don’t really wish to be back “home” either. In my email to him I explained how much I missed his family and how much I really wish we could move there once our lease is up. I honestly didn’t think he’d give it a second though but much to my surprise, he has! He says that if I am still unhappy with Calgary in a month or so, then we’ll start planning for Newfoundland! I know his family will be excited to hear this!

I won’t make myself miserable and I will try to enjoy it as best as I can but I am a family person. Being around family makes me complete and we have no family here. The majority of my family is in Georgia, a few scattered around Quebec and the rest still in Ireland. All of his family is in Newfoundland.

I think we’d feel so much better being near his family. He’s been away from “home” for 10+ years!

Own your home

Do you own your own home? If so, then you understand the importance of having Homeowner’s Insurance! Having been a homeowner myself, there is no way I’d ever not have it! It’d be far too risky! Homeowner’s Insurance is a necessity for homeowners because it provides a safety net of sorts, in the event your home ever sustains damage! Would you really want to risk not having having insurance on your home in the event your house were to ever catch fire? What about from natural disasters, like due to flooding or even a tornado! Neither would I! Personal belongings may seem irreplaceable, however, home insurance companies can help you start making new memories by providing you with the coverage you’ll need to start rebuilding!

If you do not have insurance on your home and are looking to take the steps to get it, you should know Home Insurance Basics and learn about the benefits of having this necessary protection on your home!

Fessing up

Jenn has started a new Friday “meme”! It’s called Friday Fess Ups! I think I’m going to start participating!!

My Friday Fess ups:

1. I’ve been looking at real estate in Newfoundland. Jo’s family is there and I guess I’m sort of hoping that one day we’ll wind up there ourselves.

2. Sometimes I “hide” when I’m online. By this I mean I either won’t get on my messengers or I set them to show I’m not online. Kind of silly I suppose, I mean if I really didn’t want to talk to anyone, I wouldn’t even log on, right? I usually do this when I’m having a bad day. Eh.

3. Sometimes I get tired of being the “nice” guy.

There you have it. Nothing top secret. I’m not even sure you’d call these big confessions but they’re all I could really think of and the only things that fit me right now. Ha!

In other news, I’m almost at $1,100 with PPP! It’ll be nice to get my hands on that Nikon!

Safe to say

I think it is safe to say that the biggest majority of us have applied for various types of Personal Loans at one point or another! My husband and I have taken out loans for a variety of things over the years. One of the first loans I ever took out was for furniture. We had only been married for a couple of months and were getting ready to move into a new apartment. We have a few pieces of furniture that we had collected over the years, most being hand-me-downs. We decided to only finance one or two things at first, so we only bought a sofa and dinning set. We didn’t want to go overboard, considering we were just starting out lives together.

We’ve also done a debt consolidation loan. This put all of our regular loans, under one payment and one interest rate! When we did this, we were surprised to find out that we were actually going to be lowering our payment and the term! I still think this was one of the smartest decisions we ever made!

There are just so many different types of loans out there! Besides the ones I’ve mentioned, there are also homeowner loan and car loans. At various stages of our lives, we all may find ourselves in a situation where we have to borrow money. If you do decide you will be taking out a loan, don’t go overboard. There’s no reason to take out a loan if you know you can’t afford to pay it back! You don’t want to drown yourself in debt!

Friday Five

It’s that time, time for the Friday Five!

1. At this moment, how many rolls of toilet paper are there in your house?
31 rolls

2. At this moment, how many working flashlights are there in your house?
5, if you want to include the small one on my key chain

3. Do you know where some candles and matches are?
Yes, I have a few candles in one of the containers I’ve yet to unpack. There are no matches here.

4. If the power were to go out right now, how long could you probably get by on the food in your house?

A few days, I’m sure.

5. It’s someone’s birthday, and you’ve GOT to come up with something to give him or her RIGHT NOW! What have you got?
A beautiful photographic print, by yours truly!

In other news. It’s cooled off quite a bit, though it’s pretty yucky looking outside. It’s welcomed all either way! Yesterday was horrible! I still dread cooking dinner tonight. The oven makes it so unbearable in here! I’ve already got the fan blasting and the windows open though. Hopefully it won’t be too terribly bad!

Recipes

I am always on the look out for new recipes, so I was really excited to find out about a new website, “CookingSpot.com“! I can search thousands of recipes and the best thing of all, it’s absolutely free!! The website makes it so easy to search and find great recipes! For instance, you can search by category and then I can sort by type, like if I were searching for “cheese sticks” (Fried cheese) , I would choose “Italian” then “Appetizers” under “Browse categories”! It’s really that easy! There’s a large variety of categories to choose from, including recipes for kids and healthy recipes! I’m going to try the Truffle recipe! I cannot wait!

Movie time

We decided to order a movie on pay per view, something we very rarely do. We have tried doing the Shaw’s video on demand but to date, it hasn’t worked properly. It’s cheaper to do it with PPV but with video on demand, you can watch the movie multiple times in a 24 hour time frame. At least that’s my understanding.

We decided to order The Pursuit of Happyness! I’ve heard so many great things about this film and besides, it has Will Smith in it and I love Will Smith! All I need now is a big bowl of popcorn (Lori, do you have some I can have? lol) or a bag of caramel corn! Mmm!

Bumper stickers

I’ve stumbled onto a great site that offers a huge variety of bumper stickers, custom stickers, buttons and more! You have got to check out some of these, they are fantastic! I really love the “Bee-otch” one, it’s adorable! Haha! Another great one is the Hang up and drive one! It’s so true! I get so tired of seeing people talking on their phones while driving! I’ve seen so many near accidents, it’s not even funny and being in a city like I live in (large), your attention should be on the road and not chit-chat! I think I’m going to invest in this one! I’m currently browsing through the top stickers now! You’ll find the two I’ve mentioned there! Check them out! With over 1000 categories, you’re destined to find something you’ll like!

Pretty out

Even though my dad has turned out to be not-so-great, it is a gorgeous day out! We’re going to take a walk and just enjoy the nice weather! It’s fairly warm but there’s a cool breeze and it’s sunny! The weekend is calling for some rain and cooler temperatures so we might as well get out there and enjoy it while we can!

We’re not getting Jo’s computer today, as originally planned. There’s a “delay” in our money, due to a certain relative acting like it’s too much trouble to “handle” this. Oh well. We’ll get it when we do, there’s really no rush. I just know he’s missing WoW.. haha!

Tired

Wow, today went from exceptionally well.. to right down crappy.

I refuse to go into details but it’s family related. My family occasionally frequents my blogs, so I’ll keep this to myself.. But just know, I have never been more hurt or more angry at anyone in my life, than I am right now.

I don’t even think I can ever look at this person in the same way I once did.. a person who raised me and is supposed to “love” me. What a wonderful surprise today has been. /sarcasm
