8 things

I’ve been tagged by Cara!

Rules: Each person posts the rules before their list, then they list 8 things about themselves. At the end of the post, that person tags and links to 8 other people then visits those peoples sites and comments letting them know that they have been tagged, and to come read the post, so they know what they have to do.

Eight things about moi:

1. In the 2004 presidential election, my dad begged me to vote for George Dubya (ya’ll just don’t know how much my dad likes Dubya, it’s scary). He just went on and on and on about how not-so great of a job he was going to do for our country in the future. He would ask me several times a day “Are you going to vote for BUSH??” and I would always say “I don’t think so, I just don’t know yet!” I got tired of being asked and finally said “Yes” when he asked, but truthfully, I voted Kerry!

2. I am five-foot, eleven-inches tall!

3. My parents were married for 29 years, then divorced. Though my dad still thinks there’s a chance, I personally feel it’s better this way.

4. I’ve had two of the same “best” friends (though we don’t get to see one another as much as we’d like) since fourth grade!

5. I can nearly recite every word of Napoleon Dynamite. Heck yes! And that movie never gets old for me, everything is just as funny the millionth time as it is the first!

6. I love the TV show, Reba!

7. I have a really bad southern accent. Love it or hate it!

8. Jarome Iginla is the reason why I started watching the Calgary Flames, some years ago. He’s shexy!

I’m tagging: Henny, Lori, Debbie, Ranee (haha, take that chicka!), Mike (haha), Jessica.. and anyone else who would like to do this!

My poor tummy

I have been sick at my stomach since about 11:30pm last night! What’s made it worse though, was this horrible heat and muggy air! I laid in bed for about 2 hours before finally getting comfortable enough to fall asleep! It seemed like no matter which side I laid on, if I was on my back or on my stomach, I just felt even more queasy! I’m still sick this morning! The heat isn’t helping today either, in fact, it’s making me pretty stuffy! I hope I’m not coming down with anything!

Jo is home today too! He’s been down on his back since yesterday afternoon. When the alarm sounded this morning, he tried to sit up in bed for a few minutes, like he normally does before getting up and he just couldn’t! Sitting and standing makes it worse, so he’s just laying in bed. Poor thing! I hope he’ll be feeling better tomorrow!

It’s pretty bad when we’re both “sick”. Kind of makes it hard to take care of one another. haha!

Bangkok

A few years back, my cousin Angie went on a missionary trip to little town in Thailand! While she was there, she and a few friends decided to visit Bangkok! Of course she took tons of pictures, which she shared with us when she returned and ever since seeing those pictures and hearing stories of her trip, I have been wanting to visit Bangkok myself! As a photographer, there are many different places that I would enjoy visiting, and of course capturing! I would love to visit the Grand Palace! It would also be nice to visit the riverside at night, the night shots, along the river that Angie took were breathtaking and it looks like a lot of fun! I would love to take a tour of Bangkok by boat, day or night or both! I will have to start researching Bangkok Hotels, so that once I get over this fear of flying, I will be on my way!!

Sidestep.com makes searching for a hotel, easy! Just select your destination, dates you will be staying from and to, who will be there (how many adults and / or children) and how many rooms you will need! Click “Search for hotels” and voila, you have a list of accommodations! Sidestep.com searches over 200 travel websites, to find the best values for you on the web!

Midnight fifteen

So, it’s a quarter after midnight and I’m sitting here wide awake while my husband drifts off into la, la land. His snoring is driving me bonkers right now! I know if I get into bed, I’ll only wind up laying there staring at the ceiling and nudging for him to roll over! It’s so stuff in this place tonight. Just sitting here is making me sweat. The fans are running on full blast but it’s a bit mild outside, with no breeze at all! I feel sticky! I think I’m going to take a really cold shower soon. I wonder though, is that just going to make me feel hotter? Yuck!

I have a sore toe too. Last night I got up to go “potty” in the middle of the night and while doing so, tripped over the new, huge fan beside my bed!! I’m still not used to that sucker being there! I ripped about 1/3 off of the middle (birdie hahaha) toe, of my left foot! It’s pretty tender, I could barely even slide my feet into flip flops earlier! I think this is a sign that I need to position this fan elsewhere! Possibly in a corner, way, way away from me! I mean, I seem to have two left feet lately (you may recall the entry about “falling” up the stairs) but still!

I’m starting to hate being and living here. I never thought I’d actually admit that, but it’s true! I have no desire to make this city my home. Never, ever! I’ve been feeling homesick and just sort of, all together crappy the last few days. This explains all the “napping” I’ve done lately. I tend to nap and sleep when I feel down.

Anyway. Please don’t forget about my contest!!! You only have a few more days to enter!

Erm, for some reason, wordpress is logging my time as an hour off (ahead). It isn’t set for CST, it’s set for MST. I told you people something weird was going on with wordpress times!

Friend finder

One of the things I love about the internet is that I feel more comfortable talking to people and expressing myself more openly online than I do in person! I have met some pretty wonderful people through the internet, just by coincidence and I’ve actually met quite a few in person after awhile. I found we were all a lot more at ease talking in person, after chatting online. I guess that’s because we get to know one another a little more personally (if honest and truthful), so it takes away that “Yikes, what do will we talk about? What will we have in common???” I met my husband Jo through the internet, as well as my best friend Stacey!

It’s gotten a lot easy to meet people online though! If you’re looking to meet new friends, a great way to do so is through FriendFinder! You can sign up for a free membership and then start searching for friends or even “love”! All of this, while in the comfort of your own home, where most consider themselves in their “comfort zone”!

Hey, you may just happen to find “The one”! I guess you’ll never know unless you try though! ;]

Don’t forget

Just wanted to make a quick note! Don’t forget to check out my contest! There’s cash prizes involved, so check it out and submit if you’re interested! I’d love to see more entries, though I am ecstatic about the entries thus far! They’ve been pretty dern amazing!!

CONTEST TIME!

A lesson learned

You’re never too old to learn a lesson! I learned one yesterday, while driving to see Pirates 3 (on our “day-date”)! There I was, coming up a ramp off of Deerfoot Trail (to Memorial Drive). The traffic was really steady as I was trying to merge over to the left, I didn’t want to exit back onto Deerfoot, which I’d just exited off of (haha). Jo says “Floor it, you can beat this guy!”, referring to the man speeding up in the lane to my left, from behind me! I thought for a split second, “Floor it? In this Ford Escape (it’s an SUV)?”.. then went for it. Pedal to the metal, or so I thought! I quickly learned that flooring it in my Escape isn’t exactly possible. Sure, I sped up for about a millisecond but it soon followed with a “Cahhhchuuuggga chuuuggga *insert what sounds like a whooping cough sound for several seconds*.. guhhh guhhhh.. puhhhffthhh..”.. then it went kaput! haha! Thankfully she only needed a short break before she was ready to roll again but man, was that ever embarrassing!

Lesson learned; Ford Escapes are not meant to “floor it”!

Coaster Furniture

My husband and I have been on a mission these last few weeks! We are determined to find the perfect bedroom suit! We had to leave our old (I say old, but it was quite new) bedroom suit in Georgia, though we will get it back eventually! Until then, we have to find something else, which will likely turn into a spare room suit. Our previous bed was a sleigh bed, which happens to be my favorite style! I’m really hoping to find something similar to what we had before, though this time around, I would like for something in a darker wood!

Since I’m in the market for a new bedroom suit, I’ve been browsing through some of the beds by Coaster Furniture, where I found an absolutely gorgeous sleigh bed, which is exactly what I’m hoping to buy!! If you haven’t checked out Homeandliving.com yet, and you’re in the market for new furniture, pay them a visit! They have one of the largest collections of Coaster Furniture for your living room, dining room and bedroom!! Not only are they affordable but their pieces are quite beautiful!

Day dates

My husband took me out on a day-date today! We went to see Pirates 3 and almost decided to catch the new Die Hard (Go on and say it Lori, I know you’re dying to!)! I loved Pirates 3, it was awesome! I hope there’s going to be a fourth! After the movie, he took me to East Side Mario’s! It was delicious! There was a young couple sitting beside us, with their little girl. I guess she was about two or so, but anyway, she was so adorable! At East Side Mario’s, they serve you fresh garlic bread and when they brought theirs out, the little girl started chanting “Yay, yay, yay!! My bread is here! I love bread, it’s so good!” Haha! We, along with the parents, got so tickled! When Jo was paying for our dinner, I had a seat at one of the waiting booths near the front door! Just as Jo was coming around the corner, the couple and their little girl were heading out and she looked at me, waved and said “Bye bye!”!! She was such a little cutie pie!!

It’s been such a great day! I think we’re going to go to see another movie tomorrow. I’m trying to talk Jo into seeing Shrek 3 or Knocked up! I doubt it’ll work, we’ll likely end up seeing Fantastic Four (he loves Jessica Alba, she’s his “girlfriend” hahaha) or the new Die Hard! I guess that would be OK too!
