I just finished watching an episode of “Buy me” on HGTV, which was about a couple here in Calgary who were looking to sell their 19th floor condo. I know I have talked to a few of you about this but the real estate here in Calgary is outrageous, at least to me. This is a city that I could never see myself buying a home in because the prices just seem so out of reach. Well, this condo in this episode was no different. It was definitely beautiful, with a great view but they originally bought it for $600,000 and the selling price was $997,000ish. I could not imagine putting down that kind of money on that place though. Maybe (big maybe) on a large home, sure but a condo.. no, I just could not see myself doing that.
The inexpensive real estate in Newfoundland is definitely something I am looking forward to. None of this $300k+ stuff!

I think I may have seen this episode, but it seems like nearly EVERY house on HGTV is way overpriced. I’m always like HUH? My house only cost a fraction of that! I realize that different areas equal different house value and cost of living and all that jazz, but good lord… It always makes me think that I am NEVER moving out of my house… hehe.

I think I saw this one too. They didn’t have kids, right? Was her husband the crazy one who rode his bike in the winter? And didn’t they remodel before selling, and the agent went to Hawaii?

Kelley; tell me about it! The first house we purchased was only $72k and it was brand new - 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, cathedral vaulted ceilings and such. I believe it was around 1400 (maybe just shy) sqft. I just couldn’t imagine paying 4 times that for a house like it.. even if the cost of living varies. lol.
Colleen; lol yep! That’s the episode - with the little dog and it’s bedside steps that the decorator made them remove from the bedroom. lol
