Sleepy time

What a long and exhausting day this has been.

Today was Jo’s grandmother’s funeral. It was absolutely beautiful - a celebration of her life. It shouldn’t have been such a surprise to see over 500 people show up but you know, it actually was. The sanctuary was jam packed! Jo’s sister sang a song, as did one of his aunts. There were a few tears of course but the memories that were shared were so sweet and there were many laughs, as that was something she loved to do. Naturally it was really hard on some of the family; Jo and his cousin Lee had a really hard time being pallbearers and I honestly don’t know how either of them made it through but they did.

We all congregated back to the house (Jo’s grandparents), where I decided to kick up my feet. Too bad there was no recliner though, I think I could’ve gotten in a really nice nap. No, I take that back. There was a crowd of about 30-40 at the house from about 4:30pm - 8:00pmish.

Now, I think I’m going to prop my feet up and chit chat with Jo’s mom and dad for a bit before bed.

  • Funerals, and the idea of them, always scare me. But the way you describe your husband’s grandmother’s funeral sounded very beautiful and not scary at all. My thoughts are with you, Jo, and his family during this time.

  • Teresa.. Sorry to hear about nan. I am really happy though that you feel so peaceful about it, and that you got your chance to say goodbye and to see her. I read a post below about that. I am glad you are doing well. Miss you lots!
