Despite the sadness over the last couple of days, we have all managed to have some pretty good laughs. I decided I would share a few of these with you.
Jo’s great uncle Dave backed into the large post in Pop’s (Jo’s grandfather) yard, which had a large wooden boat on top of it. The boat came toppling down onto the back of Dave’s car. There was minimal damage, so it was hard not to laugh and poke fun. Each time I see Dave now, I tell him “Drive safe and watch out for boats crossing” and just the other day, he was being a little silly and got down on one knee in front of me asking “Will you take my hand” and I responded back with “Sure, it seems you need a hand with driving”.. HAHA.
Jo’s aunt Brenda and I have gotten really close over the last week. After people started dropping off loads of food and goodies, she and I noticed two lemon meringue pies. We swore that once things calmed down, she and I, along with a fork a piece would grab a whole pie and dart off to the basement and eat one (whole pie lol) ourselves. Saturday was our day. We called it our “secret society”. She grabbed my arm, pulled me into the kitchen where we grabbed our spoons (we figured we’d get bigger bites this way hahaha) and instead of the basement, we headed to a spare room. After about 2 bites, Jo’s aunt Marilyn came in - we were caught and there are photos to prove it! lol
Going through photo albums for the tribute DVD / CD to Nan, we found a picture of Jo’s uncle Derrick. He is a riot. He is like the male version of my sister Nikki. We found a photo of Derrick in a white and red checkered shirt, with denim overalls. I fell into a fit of laughter and said “Derrick, Heehaw phoned, they said they want their costume back!”… Laughs filled the room. We laughed so hard that our stomachs were in pure knots and our eyes filled with tears.
You see, I get along with Jo’s family so well because they remind me so much of my own. I feel right at home with all of them. Everyone kept telling me how well I fit in, especially with my comments / jokes about Jo’s uncle and great uncle.
Colleen (sister in law) and I went down to the beach yesterday. It took all of about a minute to walk down there. It was low tide, so you could walk across the rock bed (like a sandbar) to the island across from the harbor. We didn’t make it that far before the tide started to come in though because we stopped and took a few photos - snails, muscles and jellyfish galore. I have photos to share later on. I just downloaded some photo editing software to Jo’s computer and will hop to them.
