One of the things I miss the most about Georgia is it’s beaches. I’ve always been a beach bum and it’s not always in the Spring and Summer months. I’ve spent a good deal of time on several beaches well into Winter. I guess I can thank the warm southern climate for that. The beaches here in Newfoundland aren’t nearly as nice. I mean they’re beautiful, don’t get me wrong, there’s just not very much you can do on them because they’re so rough (rocky). I used to love things like roller blading/skating and cycling on the beach but something tells me that wouldn’t be as enjoyable here.
My sister Connie and her boyfriend recently purchased cruisers bikes. They live and work on Tybee Island, Georgia and felt that cycling to and from work, grocery stores and various other places was more affordable and much better for the environment. The only time they have to use their vehicles is when they travel off of the Island or when the weather gets too rough to cycle in. That sounds so nice to me.
I’m hoping when the weather warms up, that Jo and I will plan a little vacation on the other side of Newfoundland. I hear the beaches there are much more similar to what I’m used to than the ones around us here. If that’s the case, I sure hope they have rental bikes. If not, I may have to break down and purchase my own cruiser, like the the beach cruisers you can find at Cruiser Style. They’re so much fun and it’s actually pretty relaxing too.
