It’s official

OK, it’s official. I’m sick as a I don’t know what. My throat feels like someone lit a pack of matches on fire and tossed them in there. Ouch. I’m absolutely miserable with this mess. It hurts to swallow, so regardless of what I’m eating or drinking I’m in pain. It’s the pits, it really is. I’m going to call it an early night here shortly. I have my Buckley’s night time right here, and a glass of water. Hopefully it will ease some of this mess and I’ll get a good night’s rest. That’s the plan, whether it happens or not is up in the air. I’ve already turned off my alarm clock. If I sleep in, I sleep in. I’m not going to complain either way, well, unless someone wakes me up before my body is ready for it. Ha, ha.

They say you should get plenty of rest when you’re sick, so that’s what I’m going to do.

Cough, cough

Hack.

I took 2 night time Buckley’s last night, before going to bed. It took all of about 5 minutes for me to feel the weight building up on my eyelids. Ha, ha. I went bed shortly after and honestly, I don’t even remember falling asleep. The last thing I even remember was turning off the light - can’t even recall getting into my bed. Here I was thinking it’d be like all the other times I’ve taken nighttime remedies, where I usually have the opposite reaction. I’m glad I took it too. I’d debated on it for a bit before taking them, but I slept like a baby. I didn’t wake up a single time, that I recall, until 10am or so this morning. I obviously wasn’t bothered with any kind of stuffiness either and that’s something that almost always bothers me when I’m sick. Glad it didn’t though. It’s bad enough having this cold to begin with.

We just finished watching the Penguins win game 3 in the series with the NY Rangers. I’m willing to put money on the Penguins, especially after they swept Ottawa in 4 games. I think I’ll go watch a little TV or something.. or maybe I’ll look at some luxury watches? Nah, I think the new Law and Order is on!

A sky so blue

I took this photo a few days ago, when the sky was an amazing shade of blue - hardly a cloud in the sky. It was a beautiful, beautiful day. If it’d been a tad bit warmer, I think I would’ve jumped right into the Atlantic Ocean for a swim. Not warm enough for that though!

I haven’t done much lately, on the photography front. I’m slacking, severely. I think it’s just all of the stress I went through with the hacking crap, then coming down with this daggum cold.. or whatever it is. I hate being under the weather, especially when it involves a sore throat. I guess no one really says they enjoy it though, do they?

I think I’ll go take something and get some rest. Hopefully it helps!

Babies everywhere

There are babies everywhere. It seems like nearly everyone I know is either pregnant, or has recently had a baby. My good friend Helen is just under 30 weeks into her pregnancy, and I’m so excited for her. Another good friend, Manda, also had her little girl a couple of months back. I want to get a little something for both of them, so I’ve been trying to come up with some ideas for that. On the one hand, I could get necessary items like diapers or wipes. On the other hand, I could go with something like onesies or just baby clothes in general. Either way I’m sure they’ll appreciate whatever I pick out. I think baby clothes will likely be the route I take though. It seems like babies grow so much, so fast and having clothes in bigger sizes, for when they reach those sizes is important, for sure!

I was browsing through some of the baby clothes by JoJo designs, over at Beyond Bedding just now. Baby Clothes, for girls, have never looked so adorable (I’ve selected my 5 favorites, featured in the image above)! The trendy patterns, combinations of patterns with frills and the colors look so cute together. I especially like the sets with polka dots and solids, and florals with solids. With Spring upon us, and Summer so near, those capri sets and Summer dresses would make a great addition to a little girls wardrobe. I’m not embarrassed to admit that some of those outfits, if made for women, would likely make their way into my own wardrobe - the second piece in the image above, especially.

You’ll have to consider their cuteness, the cherry on top because the pricing is just icing on the cake. JoJo Designs are affordable enough for anyone’s budget. Though I doubt you’ll find anything quite like these anywhere else, I’ve seen similar styles (meaning sets) go for double, sometimes triple, what they go for at Beyond Bedding. It’s like shopping wholesale!

If you’re looking for affordable, yet stylish infant boys, infant girls or toddlers clothes - check out JoJo Designs at Beyond Bedding. I’ve bookmarked it myself, for future reference!

Backing up

How often do you do backups of your websites? Some say I do it too often, that it’s almost religiously. I guess it’s sort of become routine over the years because of all of the bad experiences I’ve had with web hosts getting hacked, CPUs crashing, an e-friend’s web host closing down without notice, and my own negligence during the first two things. I rarely ever did backups, in fact I think the first backup I ever did was after owning the website for over a year.

For me, I do backups on a daily basis. I have a plug-in installed that allows a daily backup to be created, then sent to my inbox. It’s the Wordpress backup database plug-in, which came in real handy a couple of days ago when I realized my Wordpress had been hacked. Before installing the plug-in, I did daily backups, manually through phpMyAdmin. If it weren’t for me blogging daily, I could probably get away with only doing it once a week. I think, even then, I’d still be too nervous about that though. Ha, ha.

I doubt this, my daily backing up routine, is one I’ll be breaking any time soon.

Work boots

My father in law recently went back to work after a seasonal layoff, which lasted from December through the middle of April. He has a birthday coming up in a few days, so I’m thinking of investing in something he could really use right now since I have no real idea about what he’s into (beyond doing his own DIY-type projects). I’m sure that because of the type of work he does, he goes through work boots fairly quickly, so that’s something I’m going to think about when I start my gift shopping.

boot imgI like steel toe lace-up, Justin work boots. My father in law works with concrete in an environment that requires him to move and lift heavy materials. Having steel toed boots is a definite must, as I’m sure you could imagine. I love the price on those too, $89.99. Not bad at all, especially considering I usually see similar styles for well over $140. I’m all about the prices because of that whole budgeting thing, but these boots have affordable prices. Their collection of boots appear to be of excellent quality and style.

If you’re looking for work boots, I suggest you have a look at Justin work boots over at Boot City. Justin Boots may have grown a lot over the years, but even so the continue to apply and hold to the same principals that it was founded on. How many companies can say that?

When you’re done with that, or if you’re not in the market for work boots, they have a large variety of other kinds of boots too. The site is user friendly, so you shouldn’t have any trouble browsing through their selections - you can browse by category or even brand. There’s something for the whole family, whether you’re looking for men’s boots, ladies boots, juniors boots and even other apparel like; hats jeans and belts. And it’s affordable, what more could you ask for?

This reminds me too, Jo is also in serious need of new work boots too!

Macro Monday - Pinecone

macro monday

I want to smack (not really) the person responsible for giving me this cold. I woke up all stuffy, achy and feverish (not so much now), now my throat is scratchy and sore. I thought I was over all of this mess for the year but apparently not. To make matters worse, it’s warm out and the furnace is going. I’m burning up and the fan is blasting on high, though it isn’t providing any kind of relief yet. Did we just skip Spring and jump straight into Summer? I think so.

I must go now. I have some things to get done, plus I think I’m going to bake a lemon meringue pie, it’s like a drug for me and for that, I may someday need drug rehabilitation. Pray for me. Ha, ha.

PS; Don’t forget about my handbag contest!

Jo’s wedding band

Jo has pretty much “grown out” of his wedding band. He blames my mom’s cooking - good excuse! Anyway, I decided I would look into having it stretched but the Jeweler said that might not be the best thing because it’s so thin. We don’t have children (unless you consider our cats children, but the IRS won’t let us claim them.. so you know), I still figured I’d do something for him for Father’s Day. It’s really just an excuse to get him that wedding band he’s been wanting for over a year now.

ring img Just Mens Rings has a nice collection of rings like Men’s Wedding Bands, some that are “Jo’s style.” I really like the Tungsten band with thin gold inlay. This is sort of the style we picked out before (not his previous band, I mean in our search for a new one). Jo was just browsing the site with me and his first pick, different from mine of course, is the Titanium band with the black resin insert. It looks really stylish, and like Jo said - “Who can resist that price for such a cool looking band.” I agree.

Just Mens Rings sells more than just wedding bands, like Spinner rings which are also known as Tibetan worry rings, or prayer rings. My oldest nephew is into those kinds of rings, so that would make for a nice birthday gift in the future. Again, they’re also affordable and stylish. I love that they use other materials and metals, other than the normal gold and silver. Some of the metals Just Men’s Rings are stainless steel, titanium and tungsten-carbide.

If you’re looking for stylish and rather unique Men’s Wedding Bands, well rings in general, Just Mens Rings is a good place to start.

WP Themes - Written

Well I retired 2 themes yesterday and made up for them today. Seriously, 2 theme releases in one day? Can you tell that I’ve not done much of anything today, other than finish these last two themes up?

Anywho. I decided to finish this 3 column theme before the 2 column I mentioned in the previous post. I finally got the footer to function properly. Other than this being a 3 column theme, you should know that it’s featuring one of my personal photos (though chopped down drastically in size) in the header - there’s already text on the header but feel free to remove that and add your own. It also features a full-width footer, along with supporting widgets.

Visit the WP Themes section to view a live demo or download. Enjoy!

WP Theme - Simply gray

I decided to release another 1 column theme after several people requested I do one using darker tones. This theme features dark gray tones and mauve. Header text can easily be removed, so feel free to add your own text to it if you want. Visit the WP Themes section to view a live demo or download.

I’m also hoping to release another theme before the end of the day, but if not, then enjoy this one until then. Just FYI, it’s a 2 column theme, though I may decide to release it in a 3 column theme as well. We’ll see.
