Like most people, I have had some pretty embarrassing moments throughout my life. Things like: Being in my 2nd grade Thanksgiving Day play, where I had to stand up and shout “LIFE” (thankful for), which sounded more like “LIE-EEEF” and the entire auditorium cracked up laughing. What’s really embarrassing about that particular event is the fact it was recorded and to this day, my parents enjoy bringing it out and sharing it with new friends and relatives. Ha, ha.
What really takes the cake for embarrassing moments though, was when I was 15 years old. One of my favorite shows to watch as a child and even into my teens was The Brady Bunch. I could’ve probably watched that show all day long back then and not move from the television set - 100% content. When my mother told me we had tickets to see The Music Man at the Fox Theater, I was stoked. Why? Because Barry Williams - aka Greg Brady - was staring as The Music Man. I couldn’t wait to get there. So, fast forward about 2 months, to the day of the show. We didn’t have great seats - nosebleed section to be exact. I really didn’t care, I could still see everything and I was just in complete awe, that I was sitting there watching “Greg Brady” perform, live, right before me! How groovy, right? Just before the end of the show, my mom and aunt felt it would be best if we went ahead and left. The show was amazing but if you’ve ever been through Atlanta, GA, you’ll know that the traffic is ridiculous. So, that was that. We stood up from our seats and started making our way to the staircase, where I’d soon find my “most embarrassing moment” in life. I somehow managed to lose my footing or something and I started to stumble after the first step or two. One foot went behind me, while my other foot went before me. There I was, surfing down the staircase, in The Fox Theater.. in front of GREG BRADY. I couldn’t believe it, I just started to cry from embarrassment. I didn’t care that I’d bruised and scraped up my legs, I was bruised in a worse way. Ha!
From that day on the Fox Theater has been know as The “Fall” Theater. It was absolutely horrifying for me, at 15 years old. Of course I can look back now and laugh my arse off about it.
Well that’s my embarrassing moment, what’s yours?
