Kids bedding

imgI’ve been trying to come up with some ideas about birthday gifts for my nephews. All of them have birthdays during the Summer and I figured now was as good a time as any to get started my hunt for the perfect gift. It finally dawned on me the other day; I should get them new bedding. Kids Bedding is actually the perfect idea, I think. My sister and brother in law recently got a new place and the boys haven’t had new bedding in over a year. I think it’ll be nice to give them something like, especially to cater to each of their own personalities instead of getting them all matching bedding, like they have now. They have their own tastes, one being into gaming and sports, another being into puzzles and trains and the youngest is into all sorts of things.

I’ve just been browsing the lovely selection of bedding, comforter sets, quilts and duvet covers at Beyond Bedding (they’re an exclusive manufacturer of Jo Jo Designs bedding products) and right away, I’ve already found two sets that I think I may have to buy. There are themes, for boys, like; sports, firetrucks and camouflage, to name a few.

If you’re looking for luxury children’s bedding at affordable prices (if I can afford it on my budget, you should be able to too), you need to have a look see at Beyond Bedding. Whether you’re looking for bedding for a baby crib, toddler bedding, children’s bedding or even bedding for your teen, coordinating accessories for a boy or a girl, you’re bound to find something you like.

I’m nearly positive that my nephews will enjoy this kind of personal touch in their own bedrooms. I know I did as a child, though I must say; I can’t recall ever finding such adorable bedding when I was younger.

My poor ear

My ear has an ache. Not like an infection, thank goodness. It’s just sore around the outer portion of the ear canal. It almost feels like I’ve scratched it or something. It doesn’t feel like a regular ear ache, which is definitely a good thing. I think I’ll let Jo have a look at it in the morning, just to see if there is a scratch or something there. Whatever it is, I just hope it doesn’t develop into anything worse. There’s not much that I hate more than an ear infection. I usually get 3 or 4 a year. Knock on wood; I haven’t had one so far this year.

I think I’m going to call it a night soon. I’m not really sleepy but I have to get up a little earlier than usual and run some errands. I may see if there are any fabric stores around while I’m out. I did find some great fabrics today, by Amy Butler, but there are other patterns I’d like (stripes, polka dots) that I haven’t found (in the right colors). So far I’ve picked out fabrics in shades of lime green and beige, gray, blue and white, pink, orange and white.. and well, just a lot of bright, fun colors. bagsI think I’m going to combine different fabrics on the bag. Like I’ll have the upper portion of the bags done in a solid fabric that coordinates with the floral (which is mostly what I picked out) fabrics on the lower portion of the bags (you can get an idea of the style I’m hoping for in the thumbnail attached with this entry). I’m still not sure about the straps/handles yet. I may do some with fabric, some with bamboo rings or perhaps leap into some metal rings. I’m sort of getting ahead of myself right now though. It’s been a long time since I’ve sat down at a sewing machine. I know it’s going to take some getting used to again but I’m really excited about all of the things I’m hoping to start making and creating. My mother in law has given me a few ideas about some rather unique things that I could start making and selling. I won’t go into those yet just because I’m not sure if I can actually do anything that complex yet. Ha, ha.

I think I’ll finish up this glass of sweet tea - and my, oh my isn’t it delicious - and head on to bed. My database is going a little haywire right now anyway, and it’s bugging the heck out of me.

Macro Monday

I almost forgot about Macro Monday again, not that it’s that late in the day or anything. I was just sitting there writing up my grocery list when it dawned on me. Strange timing, I know.

If you feel like joining us, check out the information page by clicking the button below. Come on, let’s see all of those macros!

macro monday

My mother in law is making pea soup for dinner. I can’t wait, it’s absolutely delicious. Plus it’ll be nice to have soup today, it’s really chilly out. I wanted to sit out on the deck this morning (and even about an hour ago) but it’s just really too cold out to enjoy that right now.

Shoooweee

Just finished watching the game - Calgary Flames vs San Jose Sharks. Flames won 2-0. Heck yes they did! This game was a must win. If San Jose had won, Calgary would’ve been eliminated. The Flames still have a chance, so I hope they’ll keep it together and play like they did tonight. That was one heck of a game. I couldn’t move away from the couch, well, except during intermissions.

That game took a lot out of me, you’d think I was a part of the team or something. I worked up quite the appetite but I really shouldn’t eat so late at night. I think I’ll just have an apple or something. I know if I dive into the chocolate pie I made yesterday, I’ll regret it. I swear, if I keep eating as much sweets as i do, I’m really going to have to invest in some diet pills. What I seriously wouldn’t do for better self control, you know?

So, did any of you catch Oprah’s Big Give finale? I did and I’m so happy that Steve won. He was my favorite and had been since day 1. I hope they’ll do another season someday. It was pretty inspirational and while I feel like I do “give” I’m nowhere near the giver those folks were by any means, it still makes me want to strive and give more.

Off topic, not that I’m really on one topic specifically; I think I’m getting a sore throat. Oh my. It’s felt rather raw all day, and scratchy to boot. I thought I was coming down with a cold earlier in the week and went ahead and started taking something for that. Either it was a false alarm then or what I took didn’t do a lick of good. Either way, I don’t want to be sick dernit.

So windy

Colleen wanted me to take a few pictures of her yesterday, since it was fairly decent out. Once the sun started to set, the temperatures dipped quite a bit and the wind really picked up. This was one of the shots taken while we were out and about doing the pictures. The sun had just set over rocky island on the other side of the harbor. Just after this shot, the wind got so gusty that our eyes started to water, so we went back inside. Ha, ha.

colleen

It was really nice out today, again, but since the sun has set, it’s really clouding up. It almost looks like snow. It’s a bit cool out now too but not nearly cold enough for snow - thank goodness. Rain? Maybe, possibly.

I’m doing a little online shopping. Well, I’m not shopping yet, I’m just browsing. I’m looking for some fabric for some handbags and throw pillows that I plan on starting soon. I have an idea about colors and patterns, now if I can just find them for a reasonable price. It’s been a few years since I’ve done any kind of sewing, so I’m sure I’m going to be a little rusty. I think I’ll do some test runs with some old fabric, just to see how much tuning I’ll need.

Off topic; I feel so.. just, blah lately. I think my body needs to be detoxed from, maybe with orovo detox?

I also wanted to note, since I know I’m crazy late; I’ll be kicking off a new contest in the next few days. Stay tuned!

“C” of Red

I love me some Calgary Flames, as I’m sure you’ve already figured out. In a recent entry I wrote about all the red jerseys you could see in the stands, during games 3 and 4. It seriously blew my mind. I don’t recall EVER seeing any sporting event (in person or on television), where the fans showed up in jerseys/shirts to support their team. Seriously, just look at this, you don’t have to watch the whole thing.. I’m sure you can see what I’m talking about with just the first few seconds or so.

That’s just insane to me, you don’t even need a magnifier to see that. Sometimes I really miss living in Calgary. Only during hockey season though. Tehe.

I’ll be glued to the television for a few hours tonight. I hope no one is expecting me to be around much, until intermission anyway. I wonder if the Sharks’ fans will be booing their own team again tonight? Such a shame.

WP Theme - Simply

Two themes in one week? Yep, you betcha. I’ve been steady working on this since before the last theme I released. For whatever reason I went onto work with the other theme and forgot about this one. No worries, it’s finished now and ready for download.

This is another 3 column theme and it features some really nice, Spring colors. Again, like the last theme, there are 2 headers; one already featuring text and the other without, so feel free to personalize it to your heart’s content.

To download this theme or view the live demo, check out the Wordpress Themes, found in the navigation area at the top of this blog section.

Now that I’m finished with all of that, I’m going to go outside and enjoy this delightful day we’ve been given. I hope I remember the game comes on tonight. Man, I could use a Rolex Daytona right now.

Guess I’m it

I’ve been tagged by a few people, to do this “random facts” thing. I’m sure I’ve done it before, well, with 8 things. I’ll try to think of 10. Ha, ha.

Here’s how you play: Once you’ve been tagged you have to write a blog with 10 weird, random facts, habits, or goals about yourself– at the end choose 5 people to be tagged. Don’t forget to leave them a comment saying (You’re It!) and to go read your blog. You cannot tag the person that tagged you. So since you can’t tag me back let me know when you are done so that I can go read YOUR blog answers.

1. I wash my feet before bed.
2. I’m taller than my husband, by 2 inches.
3. I’m a handbag addict - and damned proud of it. Ha, ha.
4. I love hockey, especially when it’s an aggressive game.
5. None of my youngest nephews (Tyler, Landon and Trent) can say my name. It’s either Teesa, Shesha or Retha. It’s OK though, it’s super cute.
6. I can’t walk in high heels. Never had a reason to wear them really, I’m tall enough without them.
7. I have a potty mouth and sometimes bad words slip out at the worst of times (like family reunions or when talking with my superiors at work.. when I worked outside of my home).
8. I’ve never been drunk.. and really, never really drank anything. I’ve only sipped coolers occasionally. I guess I’ve never acquired a taste for any of that stuff.
9. I still make that popping noise with my mouth, like Donkey from Shrek.
10. GO FLAMES, GO - had to get that in, they’re playing tonight, in San Jose. I still can’t get over all of the red jerseys in the stands during those 2 home games this week. Wow.

I’m not going to tag anyone because I think almost everyone has already been tagged. If you haven’t and want to do this, knock yourself out. ;]

Spring springs fun

Spring vacation was something my youngest sister and I always looked forward to. It meant getting to travel to the Atlanta area, where we’d get to visit with my cousins - Jeffery and Steven. It sort of became a tradition for our family and none of us complained. There’s always so many things to do in Atlanta, like visiting the World of Coca Cola, going to a Braves game (when in season), going to Underground Atlanta or even visiting Stone Mountain. One of my favorite things about Atlanta, was going to Six Flags Over Georgia, which we did a few times throughout the year. One of my favorite memories, though it wasn’t so great at the time, was getting stuck on Thunder River, for over 2 hours. It was definitely warm outside but that water was so cold and it just so happened that we were stuck right near the waterfall. The water was just pouring down on top of us while everyone on the little look out was looking down at us, most of them laughing. We looked like wet cats when we got off of that thing but it made for one great memory that we still laugh about today.

With Spring upon us and Summer at the back door, it seems like everyone is beginning their vacation planning. Trusted Tours & Attractions provides some great ideas and can sort of kind you through the process of planning out the things you’ll do while on vacation. They even provide discounts on tickets for all kinds of sightseeing tours in 23 different cities throughout the United States. Maybe you’re thinking about a place a tad bit warmer and closer to the beach, like maybe southern Florida. If so, check out the information on Miami Seaquarium.

If you’re getting read to start planning your own vacation, sign up for their newsletter, where you can enter for a chance at winning a nifty hand held GPS system (that offer ends on the 30th of April, just FYI).

A gorgeous day

It is turning out to be one heck of a gorgeous day. It’s so warm out that you don’t need a coat. The wind is a bit chilly at times but nothing you can’t handle. It’s such a nice and welcomed change. I think I’m going to take walk here in a few. I think I’ll take my camera with me, just in case it’s “needed” or something - heh!

My mother in law is outside sweeping off the last bit of snow that remained on the deck. We’re having a barbecue tonight and since it’s so nice out, and warm, we’re going to eat outside tonight. Well, I guess it will depend on how cool it gets around that time. I’m sure if it’s too cool we will stick with dinner inside, but hopefully the weather plays nice.

The only other thing I could ask for now, is that the flowers start blooming. I have a feeling it’s going to be a few more weeks before that happens though - maybe not.

Time for an upgrade

I think it’s time for my husband to upgrade some of his electronics. The speakers for his computer have really been horrible lately. It’s either one speaker is out or they’re both out. Usually I use the headphones so I’m not really bothered with it that much. Until today of course, when the headphones gave out. Every time I’d move, even just an inch, they went all wonky with static. Jo says he’s been noticing it for a few days now. He’s always using one or the other for gaming, so I think it’s more irritating to him, therefore a “priority.”

Guess we’ll be heading to Gander later this week. I may even get myself a set of speakers and headphones for my own computer. I’m only using it for storage (photos, graphics and themes) right now but I’m eventually going to set it all back up for the internet. And no Jo, you aren’t getting it! Ha, ha. He seems to think he’s going to get a second computer when I get my laptop (which will thankfully be very, very soon). He’s always wanted to be able to play WoW on one and surf the internet of the other. Men, or should I say husbands?

By the way, I’m a very sad Teesa today. The Flames lost the game last night (Tuesday). Hopefully they’re going to pull off a win in San Jose today (Thursday). If not, I’m going to be so upset because that’ll mean that much more pressure!

Bella - Macro Monday

I know I’m late. I have a good excuse - I had a really awful day and too much on my mind. I’m not going to get into it here though. Today’s a new day, so I’m moving on from the bummer I call yesterday.

Better late than never though, right? Bella was such a good sport. Usually when the camera comes on, her curiosity takes over and she starts trying to sniff the lens.

If you feel like joining us, check out the information page by clicking the button below. Let’s see those macros!

macro monday

Today is my Jo’s mom’s birthday. We’re treating her to dinner tonight, hot beef sandwiches - her favorite. I’m not sure if there are other plans at this point, I guess we’ll just wait and see.

Custom T-shirts

A couple of weeks ago one of my friends asked if I wanted to work on a side project with her. Part of the project involves printing Custom T Shirts and other apparel, but neither of us were really sure of where we’d even begin with that. My dad has a screen printer but depending on the amount of orders we could possibly see, that could be very time consuming. We think turning to internet for this would be the best possible thing for the printed portion of this project, so that’s where we turned.

Sonic ShackIn my quest to find the right place to do this apparel, I found myself at Sonic Shack, where you can create your own shop, and of course, create and design your own custom t-shirts and apparel. This happens to be our ultimate goal, problem solved? I think so! I love personalized t-shirts. I know I’m not alone - you just can’t have enough t-shirts, you know? I’ve always toyed with the idea of designing a few of my own and with this project, it’s going to allow me to be creative and do just that.

Other than t-shirts, you can also create other apparel with your designs. For example: sweat shirts, jerseys, posters, and vinyl banners. I think this is a really neat idea for anyone who has a website, especially those of us with blogs or involved in art and design. Add your blog’s logo to apparel and sell it to your readers right on your website. Customers can choose to buy one item or they may want to buy more, to save more. Between now and the end of May you can enjoy a 20% discount by using the coupon code sonic20.

If you’d like to learn more about creating and designing your own custom apparel, or would like to create your own store or shop other stores, visit Sonic Shack.

How embarrassing

Like most people, I have had some pretty embarrassing moments throughout my life. Things like: Being in my 2nd grade Thanksgiving Day play, where I had to stand up and shout “LIFE” (thankful for), which sounded more like “LIE-EEEF” and the entire auditorium cracked up laughing. What’s really embarrassing about that particular event is the fact it was recorded and to this day, my parents enjoy bringing it out and sharing it with new friends and relatives. Ha, ha.

What really takes the cake for embarrassing moments though, was when I was 15 years old. One of my favorite shows to watch as a child and even into my teens was The Brady Bunch. I could’ve probably watched that show all day long back then and not move from the television set - 100% content. When my mother told me we had tickets to see The Music Man at the Fox Theater, I was stoked. Why? Because Barry Williams - aka Greg Brady - was staring as The Music Man. I couldn’t wait to get there. So, fast forward about 2 months, to the day of the show. We didn’t have great seats - nosebleed section to be exact. I really didn’t care, I could still see everything and I was just in complete awe, that I was sitting there watching “Greg Brady” perform, live, right before me! How groovy, right? Just before the end of the show, my mom and aunt felt it would be best if we went ahead and left. The show was amazing but if you’ve ever been through Atlanta, GA, you’ll know that the traffic is ridiculous. So, that was that. We stood up from our seats and started making our way to the staircase, where I’d soon find my “most embarrassing moment” in life. I somehow managed to lose my footing or something and I started to stumble after the first step or two. One foot went behind me, while my other foot went before me. There I was, surfing down the staircase, in The Fox Theater.. in front of GREG BRADY. I couldn’t believe it, I just started to cry from embarrassment. I didn’t care that I’d bruised and scraped up my legs, I was bruised in a worse way. Ha!

From that day on the Fox Theater has been know as The “Fall” Theater. It was absolutely horrifying for me, at 15 years old. Of course I can look back now and laugh my arse off about it.

Well that’s my embarrassing moment, what’s yours?

WP Theme - Thoughtlog

There’s a new Wordpress theme for you to download. The new theme is called “Thoughtlog”.

For an idea of what this theme looks like;

If the screencap above isn’t good enough, you can also view a live demo of this theme in action, on the WP Themes page (refer to navigation at the top of the blog). As you can see, this is a three column theme in shades of beige and purple (dark lilac, really). It’s widget ready and has valid XHTML and CSS. If the text in the header already placed in the theme isn’t your “cup of tea” you’re more than welcome to add your own text to the second, blank header available in the zipped file. Or you know, you can always just play around with the theme and add your own header, patterns and colors. It’s your call.

I hope that you enjoy it!

In other news; Go Flames, Go!!! Calgary vs San Jose tonight. Calgary’s at home and I hope they whoop some shark arse. In fact, I have a few things (snacks) I need to pick up from town. I hope I won’t miss the game. I hate that I can’t wear anything on my wrists (I break out). I hate when I can’t keep up with the time when I need to. I think I’m just going to get a pocket watch or something! Daggum this not knowing the time when I need to.
