Most of you have read about my nephew Tyler, and his struggles with ADD. If not, long story short; He has ADD and has struggled with his school work when he was first diagnosed. They put Tyler on different medications, none of which really helped all that much. He still struggled with concentrating on doing things and had really bad mood swings. Well he took it upon himself to do good in school. My sister worked with him every afternoon, with his school work and helping him read. This was actually something he wanted, not just my sister. I have to say too, and not just because he’s my nephew, he’s such a smart boy.
OK, OK.. exciting news, right?
Well Tyler has always shown an interest in the arts. That comes from our family of artist I think. I’m sure my dad will take full credit for that.. ha, ha. Well sometime in the last month Tyler’s school held a contest through the tech college in my hometown. Guess what? Tyler won first place, and he still doesn’t know yet. He also won an award for being the top student in his grade. They’re presenting him with the contest prize and the award on Friday. I’m so happy for that little man. He’s worked so hard to prove that even though he has ADD, he can still succeed if he really puts in an effort and wants to do it.
It’s definitely been a tough struggle for him, but I think he’s proving that if you want something bad enough.. you can achieve it.
Man, I can’t believe how fast my little munchkins (aka nephews) have grown up. No need for anymore baby cribs for any of them. Aww!
