It appears there’s a sore loser in the bunch of participants for the caption a childhood photo contest. Seriously, how pathetic? Are you that upset about losing that you send your friends here to comment? Grow up. The contest was meant for FUN. There’s no reason anyone should get their knickers in a bunch over it and if you do, that’s just sad.
Next time, save yourself the time and effort and just not participate because it’s really stupid to enter a contest that’s supposed to be fun and then get pissy if you don’t win.
Edit; To “Les” (nineunknownmen)… Your comment will not be approved but just in response - we’ll have to agree to disagree. I just wonder who you are and why you felt the need to jump out of the woodworks to criticize the decision. It’s a shame people like you go out of your way to be negative over something that’s meant to be FUN.
Back on July 18th, I began a new contest - Caption a childhood photo. The deadline for submissions was July 26th and I must say, there was serious LOL going on! Thank you for the laughs, to everyone who participated.
After going through the submissions, I’ve picked a winner, with the assistance of my husband.
And the winner is…. Drum roll please….
Jade of Sweet-catastrophe.com.
Jade, I will be sending you an email shortly, congratulations!
The other day I wrote about an awesome blog, Blogaboutyourblog.com! I mentioned that not only are they a great resource if you’re trying to improve the quality of your blog but also that they run fun contests! Well, they have a new contest up where you could be the lucky winner of a new laptop briefcase valued at $180!! The briefcase is from Eco-Handbags, which are Eco friendly!! Many of you Canadians will be happy to know that it’s open for those in US and Canada! The deadline for those wishing to enter is Tuesday, August 7th! I have to admit, this is an awesome prize!!!
If you’re interested, head on over and read the contest information!
If you were or are planning on submitting to my recent contest, you should get crackin’! There’s not much time left, the deadline is tomorrow July 26th!
An update on the prize, the prize has been increased to $25 - just FYI! You know you want to enter! There’s only a handful of submissions and I’m hoping to get a least a few more!
For those who’ve asked - I’ll be the one picking the winner! I had a bad experience with the last poll and it just put a negative feeling on the last contest! I’d rather prevent that from happening!
Submissions are finally being made for my most recent contest! I was beginning to worry that there wouldn’t be many, if any at all! I am really looking forward to seeing more submissions!
I’ve somehow managed to slice my leg! I have no idea how I did this! I’ve been sitting here, at my computer for at least a good hour now! The only thing I can think of is that maybe Bella did it when she hopped into my lap earlier! If so, I guess I didn’t realize what she’d done at the time because it’s just now started to sting! Guess I’ll go doctor it up a bit and slap Sponge Bob band-aid over it!
Jo looks so cozy in the bed. I think I may go join him here in a few and at least try to get a little shut eye! Five:am will be here before I know it!
I just wanted to make a quick note and remind you all about my newest contest!! You still have plenty of time to get your submissions in! I hope to see at least a handful of submissions once it’s over! I think this is one of the easiest contests I’ve done! Go check out the information and see if you think it’s something you’d like to do! There’s $$ involved!
Now I’m trying to get myself ready as quick as possible, while trying to type this entry out because Jo’s decided he’s taking me out to dinner! I’m wondering if it has anything to do with the new keyboard? haha!
Welcome to contest number 2 here on Scribblescratch.com! I want to keep the contest fun and keep people wanting to participate! I hope with this contest,
I am able to accomplish that!
Rules / requirements;
Find one of your childhood pictures and add a caption either to the photo or as the title of your entry. The picture itself can be funny (hey, we have all taken some pretty hilarious childhood pictures) or the caption you choose can make it funny! Either will do.
Please note, the photo must be YOUR childhood photo, not a photo of your child or a child!
Post this photo in an entry on your blog, with a link back to this entry or the main link, Scribblescratch.com. Achor text should read “Caption your childhood photo contest”.
Funniest captioned photo wins;
$20 via paypal or amazon (your choice)Deadline for submissions;
Thursday, July 26th
If you are confused, I shall give you two personal examples of what I’m looking for! These are two photos of me, as a child! Please click the photos to read the text and view the larger version!
See how easy it is? No pictures have to be taken, just merely find a funny photo of yourself as a child and caption it!
Have fun!
Today has just not been my day at all! What started out as a frustrating night last night and early morning, turned into an even more frustrating evening and night tonight. It’s like every single little thing was ticking me off. Yeah, I let things get to me more than I probably should but if you’d been in my shoes for even a minute of my day, you’d understand completely - trust me! I wish some of these things were things I could talk about, but as mentioned previously - i cannot because it’d be a TOS violation. Whatever though. I’ll get over it all in time, there’s nothing like good messenger conversations with good friends to keep crap off of my mind, right?
Anywho!
Earlier today, Jo’s mom phoned us. She was updating us on his grandmother (she’s recently gone into remission and has had some recent health troubles). She was telling us about how Nan wanted to go to Wal-mart, even though her legs were aching. Jo’s mom asked Nan “How are you going to get around if your legs are hurting?” and Nan replied with “You don’t worry about that!” .. She’s a sneaky little lady!! She had Jo’s mom push her around Wal-mart in a wheelchair and they said they laughed the entire time because Jo’s mom couldn’t steer it! I would’ve loved to have been there. I miss these ladies so much. I never though I would be in such awe of my in-laws because of all the horror stories I’d heard about in-laws growing up. These people are truly amazing though, everyone of them!
Also, it’s time to vote on the “That’s life” (my photo contest) submissions! Click here to view submissions and cast your vote! I am so happy with the turn out!
Stay tuned for my next contest, it should be announced in the next 24 hours!
This all being said, I’m going to finish up Caitlin’s theme before she decides to ring my neck! haha!
I would just like to remind those of you who have noted interest in submitting to the contest over at Herbrokentoy.com - That’s life, you should do so before July 14th. This the deadline for entries. Please link to your post/submissions in the contest information entry (click the anchor text above that reads “That’s life”). I hope to see more of you enter!
I will also be adding links up for those of you that entered into “Every picture tells a story”, as promised! I will get to this later on this evening!
Right now, I’m going to stand in front of the freezer, with the door open. This seems to be the only way I can actually cool off in this apartment. To think, it’s going to feel like 100ºF up here tomorrow and it’s only around 85ºF today. I’m not so sure I can survive!!
Alrighty, voting is officially over! According to the poll, Elyse wins with 34 votes, with Dez behind her at 14 votes!
To each of you ladies; I will be contacting each of you in the next 24-48 hours to get some information from you so that I may send you your prizes!
Congratulations to both of you and to the rest of you, thank you so much for participating! I am currently running another contest, a photo contest, over at Herbrokentoy.com - That’s life! I would love it if you would all participate in this contest as well! You all had wonderful stories and if I were to have made the decision on the winner myself, you likely would’ve all received the prize, haha!
I will be working on a 3rd contest (it will be here on Scribblescratch), which will be announced once voting begins for That’s life! So stay tuned for that!
After this 3rd contest, I will start doing 1 contest per month. This will enable me to offer larger prizes for the winner(s)!
First off, I have announced a new contest over at Herbrokentoy.com! It’s a photo contest, so I hope to see a lot of submissions since I know a lot of you are into taking pictures and photography (professionally and amateur)!!
You can find the information on the contest here - That’s life!
Also, voting is still taking place for the previous contest here on Scribblescratch - Every picture tells a story! If you haven’t already, please take a look and cast your vote!
I am so disappointed!
I realized earlier, that I completely missed the Finger Eleven concert last night! That was the one concert during the Calgary Stampede, that I was looking forward to, and I completely missed it!
To make myself feel better, I bought myself two handbags today for $42. It didn’t help that much, but I do like my new handbags!
Good news with all this hot weather - it’s finally cooling off! It’s supposed to rain all day tomorrow! Here’s hoping! As long as it doesn’t get warmer than 20ºC, I’ll be a-ok!
By the way - KEEP VOTING! So far there’s been 37 votes cast!
The poll is located at the bottom of this post..
To be fair to each of the participants, I have decided that I alone will not decide on the winner! The primary reason for this is because some of the submissions are from friends! I would hate for any of the participants to think that I favored any of them, should they end up the winner!
Voting begins at the moment this entry is live and will end Wednesday, July 11th at 12 noon EST! Share the link to this entry with your readers and send them on over to vote for you, if you’d like! Each person is allowed to vote just once, so make it count!!

Edit 12:55pm MST; By the way, the deadline has arrived!
Wow! I spent the entire morning backing up all of my websites. This includes uploaded themes and the sql’s, not only for myself but also for my hostees! That was exhausting! I’m glad it’s done though, I hadn’t backed up anything in over a week. I’m the type that backs up daily! Yes, daily! Before I head to bed each night, I backup my sql’s because in the past, I had experiences where I went to bed with a functioning site and woke up to an entire site having been deleted! It wouldn’t have been so bad if I had a more recent backup of my site, unfortunately at the time, I hadn’t backed up in weeks! I never want to see anything like that happen again, so I’ve made it a habit of backing things up daily. Well, until this past week!
To those of you that I host - Jess, Debbie and Lori, I would like you ladies to do backups of your sites as often as possible. I recommend every couple of days but at the very least, weekly! Since none of you have access to my control panel and I’m the only one who can do backups from phpmyadmin, you all will need to go to “Manage”, then “Export” in your wordpress dashboards. This will give you a backup in xml format! I’m going to try and remember to do backups of your sites each week but in the event I forget, it’d be wise to be doing your own! I don’t expect any downtime but you just really never know when it could happen!
First and foremost, be warned, this entry will be all over the place!
Do any of you watch Gene Simmons Family Jewels? I absolutely love this show! His kids crack me up, especially Nick! They seem to have a great relationship (parents/kids)! I watched nearly every episode of the marathon today!
Today was pretty uneventful. I napped, which is becoming more and more normal for me and then we went out for a little “Canada Day” dinner. Nothing special, really but it was nice! Now I’m just sitting here with both fans blasting on me because it’s so hot and miserable right now! I complain about the heat a lot, don’t I? If you didn’t know any better, you’d think I was actually planted in the SE Georgia area right now, huh? I feel their pain and while it isn’t that hot (Southern hot), it feels like it sometimes because there is no AC! My butt is sticking to my seat, how annoying?!
I am really looking forward to getting back to Georgia though! I’m still not sure where we’re going to settle (Georgia or Newfoundland) but either way, just to be near family / loved ones is enough to make me happy! I can’t wait to see my mom, dad, sister and nephews! I’ll be there around the time of Trent and Landon’s birthday, so we’re going to try to do a big bbq the first weekend we’re down, and probably along with a pool party at my Aunt’s! I’m also looking forward to seeing Jo’s family again, I really miss them! Sometimes I think I miss them more than my own immediate family, which I guess is because I just felt like I didn’t have enough time with them! I’m sitting here going through all of the pictures I took in Newfoundland and the ones I took on our trip up here! I don’t think I ever posted any of these! I’ll have to do that later tonight!
As you can see, there’s a new theme up. The pink became, well, too pink for me! I’ll keep it in my “vault” in case I ever get another wild-hair on my head and decide to go with something pink-pink again! I doubt it’s going to be any time soon. I’m actually really loving this theme, and quite a bit more than the previous one!
Anyway! There’s about 12 hours left in my contest, so you best get your submissions entered now!!! CONTEST TIME! Thank you to those of you who have already submitted!
