Cook, then photograph

Once I get my new camera, one of the things I really look forward to is food photography. I figured since I have a cooking and recipe blog (it’s sort of hibernating right now), it should give me the chance to work on that and gain a little more experience with it.

I know many of you are already experimenting with this type of thing. Wouldn’t it be fun to participate in something fun, like this and perhaps even get a chance to win a $100? Now’s your chance, over at BigOven.com you can participate each month in a contest which may award you $100 Amazon gift certificate if you have the best recipe photo! For those of you that may be a little rusty around the edges, like me or are new to the world of food photography, they’ve provided us with some tips on getting great food photos.

You can search through the BigOven 160,000+ Recipes and/or swap recipes with other community members (there are over 50,000 members so far). The software is free to try and only $29.95 if you decide to buy it.

Even if you don’t win the $100, you’ll still have a good time doing it and of course, you’ll have a delicious bite to eat once you’re done. Sounds like a win, win situation to me!

Recipes

I am always on the look out for new recipes, so I was really excited to find out about a new website, “CookingSpot.com“! I can search thousands of recipes and the best thing of all, it’s absolutely free!! The website makes it so easy to search and find great recipes! For instance, you can search by category and then I can sort by type, like if I were searching for “cheese sticks” (Fried cheese) , I would choose “Italian” then “Appetizers” under “Browse categories”! It’s really that easy! There’s a large variety of categories to choose from, including recipes for kids and healthy recipes! I’m going to try the Truffle recipe! I cannot wait!
