My Uncle Wayne is one of the biggest golfers I know. For as long as I can remember, he’s played a round of golf at least a couple of times a day while visiting. My grandpa gets a little annoyed with it because he says that he (Wayne) should be spending time with the family. He’s actually spending time with some of the family when he’s playing though, so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. The last time he was visiting, he was showing off his new Titleist golf clubs. Now golf isn’t really my cup of tea but you know what? I have to admit, those were some really cool golf clubs.
I have always been fascinated by dolphins. When I go to the beach, I get up extra early for sunrise because you can usually spot several of them following behind the shrimp boats coming back into the marina.
There’s a new movie out called Eye of the Dolphin - it’s about a young girl, Alyssa, who gets expelled from high school and is forced to live with her father. A feather is a dolphin researcher that doesn’t have the time for his unruly teenage girl. Unexpectedly, Alyssa forms a bond with an orphaned, wild dolphin and soon learns they can bring hope to the people of her new home.
You can view the movie trailer here or read more about the movie, dates and casts information by visiting the movie website - Eyeofthedolphin.net.
This should be a wonderful family movie. I hope I can convince Jo to go see it with me.
If you think you’ll make it out to see the movie, you may be interested in the chance to Win Free Movie Passes to Eye of the Dolphin.
Have any of you seen the movie The Messengers? Eeeep! I watched it at midnight last night, which probably wasn’t the best time to watch a movie like that. I think my heart jumped out of my chest at least a dozen times throughout this movie. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve seen a movie that has that kind of effect on me. If you haven’t seen it and you like ghostly like movies, check it out. It’s a good movie, even though it gave me the heebie jeebies!
When that was over, I decided to watch The Honeymooners because after that, I really in need of some LOL’ing. It was OK but it wasn’t nearly as funny as I was expecting. Pffth
I also decided to watch Final Destination 3 after The Honeymooners. I’ve seen it before but figured since I was still up, I might as well watch something and considering that’s really the only thing that was on, that’s what I watched. I still think the second was the best in this trilogy (those special effects were incredible).
Honestly, I can’t believe I am up. I didn’t go to bed until well after 4am!
One of my favorite songs of all time is “Every breath you take” by The Police. I can remember the exact moment I heard the song for the first time! I was in the car with my mom and youngest sister, coming back from visiting a relative out of town! Just like today, I have a tendency to flip through the stations on the radio, even if a “good” song is already playing. I happen to do this at the moment “Every breath you take” was starting and I remember thinking “What an awesome song”! Isn’t strange how a song can do that? How they can take you back to that time in your life and you can remember exact details of that moment? Ok, so maybe it isn’t “every song”, just the great ones!
I don’t know about you guys and gals, but I am stoked about the double disc compilation Police CD that hit stores on June 5th! I was really excited to see my “Every breath you take” and “Roxanne” on there, these are my favorite songs by The Police! I think we all wonder what kind of survivor skills we have and how well we could survive in certain situations. Could you imagine being stuck in a strange place, an unknown city and not have money, food or drink or even friends? It’d be a nightmare, turned reality for sure!
After getting over the initial shock of something like that happening, I think I would be in “survival mode”. I’m not sure I would enjoy sleeping on the streets. I’m not sure if that would even be an option because it seems to be so dangerous (especially for females). The weather itself wouldn’t bother me, unless it was absolutely freezing, was scorching or was severe. A little rain won’t hurt me! I think I would try and seek shelter at the Churches in this strange city, perhaps even turning to hotels / motels or organizations that provide assistance for the homeless. I would offer to help those organizations, to “earn my keep”, even if it wasn’t necessary! I’m sure I could also earn something with my talents and creativity. Perhaps I could draw or paint portraits of tourist/people in the city.
One thing is for sure, once I got back on my feet and communication was no longer an issue, I would definitely have a lot of interesting things to blog about!!
I bet Michael Weston would know what to do in a situation like this! Starting June 28th, you can watch to see how he deals with a similar situation after receiving his “burn notice” (Aren’t you up with the times? Canned.. terminated.. released.. aka, he’s been fired!)! Watch USA Network’s Burn Notice and see what survival skills this, now, ex-CIA operative has!
I have a hard time filling out some of my profiles around the web. Why? Because I always get stuck on the part that questions my favorite books or favorite types of books. It’s really a hard question to answer because I like nearly anything. What makes a good book, for me, is keeping me interested! The storyline just has to keep me wanting more. It has to be one of those that grabs onto me from the start, so much so that it’s nearly impossible for me to put it down long enough to run to the restroom! I’ve just read an excerpt from Dancing Backward In Paradise by Vera Jane Cook, and I can honestly say, I think this is a perfect example of one of those books! I’m already drawn to it because of where it takes place - in the south! I was born and raised in Georgia, so the states surrounding my home state are familiar to me. I always tend to find this appealing, however, that’s not the only reason that I’m eager to read it! It has the perfect ingredients for the kind of novel you won’t put down until you’ve read the last word; lies, murder and betrayal.
Only a truly gifted writer can break your heart, make you laugh and inspire at the same time. Dancing Backward In Paradise by Vera Jane Cook is a brilliant debut that explores the definition of happiness and tries to make sense of the unexpected turns that create the richness and texture of life. Grace Place is nineteen-years-old and lives in Paradise, the Paradise Trailer Park in Hixon, Tennessee. The year is 1966 and Grace is content exploring the back roads, swimming in the cold waters of Tennessee and dancing in the wind. When her life is thrown off track by a man named Lenny Bean, Grace becomes entwined in a medley of lies, murder and betrayal. Trying desperately to remain true to herself, while the life she has created begins to crumble, Grace is more determined than ever to change her destiny.
“You’re going to New York City, honey” her mother told her. “It’s the only place I know of where things are so damn crazy and mean, so miraculous and exciting, so painfully alienating that you just might find yourself amongst the confusion.”
Accompanied by the most unlikely of friends, Ginny Jo, a tough-talking leader with a no-nonsense approach to life, Grace is on her way to New York City. The place that her mother had long ago told her was the only place where her life would become something worth living. There amidst the 1960’s world of civil rights, hippies and ambition, Grace begins living the dreams that her mother always held and that she never believed existed. A place that can only be called Paradise.
Absorbing and compelling, Dancing Backward In Paradise poses the question: Can
If I ever go back to New York City (was only there briefly on two separate occasions), I would love to see a Broadway show! Ever since seeing “The Music Man” at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, I have been dreaming of the day I could see a show on Broadway! I would love to see Grease (my all-time favorite musical) and Hairspray!! I have often wondered about how hard it would be to get tickets to the shows, I hear they often sell out pretty fast! To avoid an obstacle like that, I’m sure a Broadway ticket broker can help and for a good price!
Seeing a show on Broadway must be one of the greatest experiences for anyone who enjoys musicals (like me!). If you are looking for Grease Broadway Tickets, or tickets to some of other great shows like “Wicked” or even “The Lion King” that usually sell out, months in advance, Soldoutbroadwaytickets.com, a Broadway ticket broker, can get you those tickets and for a great price! Tickets are delivered by Fedex, or you can sometimes arrange for tickets to be picked up via will-call for shows you’ll see in the next couple of days!
When it comes to “favorite” authors, one of my absolute favorites is Stephen King! Many of his novels are turned into films, which is something I really love! You get to see the novel come to life and witness the suspense, the horror and the thrill! My two best friends, Melissa and Jess, from high school were really into Stephen King and they’re really the ones that got me into them! Some of my favorite Stephen King films are Pet Sematary (the original, not so much the second), Storm of the Century and TheTommyknockers! Though my absolute favorite, Misery! Kathy Bates and James Caan were both amazing in Misery! I must say though, I have never been disappointed in any Stephen King novel or film!
So I guess it would come as no surprise that I am really looking forward to the1408 Movie!!! You better believe I’ll be “front and center” in the ticket line on opening night here! With actors such as John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson (one of my favorite all time actors, ever!), I know I won’t be disappointed!
The movie is based on a short Stephen King horror story of the same name! It (1408) surrounds Mike Enslin (played by John Cusack), a supernatural writer and author of two hit books that focus on supernatural phenomena! As he’s researching for his latest book, he is determined to check out a room, where he’ll stay as a guest, in a New York City hotel, the notorious room 1408. Convinced the stories and rumors are a merely a myth, he’s warned by warned by the hotel manager, Mr. Olin (played by Samuel L. Jackson), of possible danger to come! What he is about to experience is far more horrific than any myth or rumor, as 1408 truly is a room where guests don’t check out by noon!
Check out the 1408 Movie trailer!
