Random thinking

How about a list?

  • Today Jo and I are celebrating our 8 year wedding anniversary. It’s hard to believe that 8 years ago today we said our I do’s and though we’ve had some rough patches, we’ve somehow managed to make it this far. I doubt we’ll get a chance to do very much today since the weather is miserable and his grandmother isn’t doing too well.
  • Jo’s grandmother, as mentioned, isn’t doing really well today. She had a great day yesterday though and showed us just how much strength she still has. They were playing Elvis (she loves Elvis) and she actually stood up and started dancing. It was beautiful.
  • I got the chance to talk to my grandmother the other day, which I haven’t been able to do in a few weeks. Each time I would call she’d either be sleeping, napping or just wound up to the point where she was swearing at any and everyone - I was no exception! We had a nice little chat though and before hanging up, she said “I love you”, which made me smile.
  • Jo has just finished making my breakfast (at 12:34PM lol), so I’m going to go have a bite to eat!

  • Anniversary bands

I’m very excited about our upcoming anniversary. Jo told me to start checking out diamond rings. Earlier this year he said he wanted to give me a diamond anniversary ring, so that’s what I’ve been shopping around for. I’ve been trying to find one in white gold. I really hope to find one that not only has small diamonds (preferably baguette diamonds) but also has small sapphires to represent my “September” (my birth month). I’ve seen a few like this but so far I haven’t had any luck finding one I love, in white gold. The few that I’ve found so far have been in yellow gold. I either where white gold, silver or platinum. I’m not really fond of yellow gold that much anymore.

It’s still hard to believe it’s been nearly 8 years though!

    I win

My husband and I decided to do a round of Jeopardy tonight. What does that mean? It’s just when we sit down and watch the show together, try to give the right questions (since the answers are provided, doh) and at the end, see who wins.

We used to do this nearly everyday up until a few months ago. I’m not sure why we stopped doing it, though I suspect he (like me) grew bored with it. I am happy to say, I am the winner tonight! That actually doesn’t happen very often though. My husband knows a lot of useless facts about all kinds of things. I, in no way, consider myself stupid by any means but if you met my husband, I think you’d understand. You could ask him a something about anything and he’d probably give you the correct answer.

What’s funny though - I always win legitimately (when I do win) but he will always claim he “let me” win. Sore loser? I think so! If you are reading this, I’m kidding.. not.

    On being a housewife

I’ve never thought of myself as “super housewife” and doubt I ever will (Jo will probably second that, haha). For awhile there, while I was working in a super fast paced work environment for 50 to sometimes 70 hours a week, I just lacked the time to do much of anything on my days off. After being laid off (a very long story which involves a previous work transfer with Jo gone bad), Jo and I made the decision that I would just stay at home. He wasn’t feeling the “house husband” thing, I guess.. haha.

I do my best in regards to being a housewife though - keeping things tidy around here, making and packing his lunch for work, doing laundry and on a few occasions each week, cooking. Cooking is something he actually enjoys, so it’s a “chore” we share.

Usually I can be rather creative when it comes to whipping something up but after our grocery run last night, I don’t think my creative side is going to help. See, I’ve always been told that you shouldn’t do grocery shopping while hungry and until last night, that had never been an issue for Jo and I. Note the “until last night”. We were both nearly ’bout starving when we stopped in at Superstore for groceries. This led to the purchase of items we normally wouldn’t buy on an actual grocery run.

Now I’m stuck trying to figure out a dish to make for dinner tonight, out of taco flavored chips (Jo’s), Aero bars (candy, Jo’s) and Reese’s peanut butter cups (mine). lol

    Oink, oink

Jo decided to take me to lunch today at Olive Garden. On most occasions, when we go out for lunch or dinner, we always say “Let’s have dessert today..” but we wind up getting full off of our actual meals and never have room for anything else. Today was no exception.. for me. I had Cheese Ravioli and Jo had Grilled Steak Caprese. We had an appetizer prior to this which consisted of Stuffed Mushrooms and Toasted Meat Ravioli. Between that and our meals, it was way more than enough - we even had left overs. Well, as usual we joked about getting dessert, only this time Jo was serious. I didn’t mind, why would I? He was paying after all.

So, when dessert time came, he asked if I wanted anything.. “No way, I’m full as a tick (my sister says this all the time, it just slipped out lol), but go ahead and get yourself something if you like. I may take a small bite of it!” So the waitress comes around to take his dessert order - he had White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake. I hate cheesecake, so he had it all to himself. It took him about 5 minutes to finish the slice of cheesecake off. I joked, asking “Are you going to lick the plate clean too?” and we both giggled.

He decided he didn’t want to look like he’d finished it all by himself, so guess what he did?? He took my fork, slid it over what was left in the plate (basically nothing lol) and laid my fork down with his, on the plate. I asked “What are you doing?” and he laughed while saying “I want it to look like you helped me eat it!”..

    Hahaha.

I’m still mad at him about the Newfoundland situation, which still isn’t resolved but it was pretty dern funny.

    Oh, googleness

Do you remember my entry about “osteopiritis“? Believe me, I know that word does not exist, please refer to the entry if you must. In short, my husband likes to pretend he’s right about everything. The truth is, he often doesn’t know squat (I still love you Jo Jo). He makes up these words in his head, when he hears either the first part of something or the last part of something. Case in point: “Osteopiritis” - Osteoporosis, what he hears “Osteopiritis”. How? I have no clue. He obviously doesn’t pay enough attention to things.

So, one night we’re sitting there talking about my knee pain. He begins to come up with ideas about what’s wrong with me - my husband must be a renaissance man because Dr. Jones was in the house. He began telling me it must be Osteopiritis. Of course I fell into a fit of laughter because I knew what he meant and it wasn’t what he said. We argued about Osteopiritis vs Osteoporosis to the point where he was going to prove me wrong and himself right. Google to the rescue, right? Wrong. He keys it in and he’s taken to a page that tells him “Did you mean: osteoporosis?” What, what’s that? Ohhhhhhhh, that’s the sound of me being right and him being wrong. He, to this day, claims it’s an error with Google!

So tonight I’m checking my slim stats - I get some of the most ridiculous referrals from Google, I kid you not. I was laughing as my eyes fell onto “osteopiritis”, a Google search someone did in the UK. I’m sitting here thinking to myself “Wow, someone else’s husband is fixing to make an ass of himself…”

Jo says it doesn’t take very much to amuse me. Maybe that’s true but hey, I guess I got the last laugh on this one!

    Anything else

To say he’s a shop-a-holic is an understatement.

    New $1500 computer - check
    New $100 desk - check
    New $100 chair - check
New $80 gaming keyboard - check

Today he’s put in for another new chair. Nothing is wrong with the older new one. Nothing at all. I don’t need it, I have a new one. Oh wait, the current one hurts his elbows. Wahh. This is driving me nuts.

At this rate, I’ll never get my damn camera. And I won’t even tap the argument over Newfoundland. Ugh, I hate it here (not Newfoundland).

    I made the mistake

I made a terrible mistake yesterday! Around 4pm, I decided I would lay down and watch a little TV. I know, I know! You’re thinking “Teresa, you always say you’re going to lay down but end up falling asleep!” Yes, this is true and yesterday was no different! As I was saying, I laid down around 4pm with the intentions of catching up on some TV! Within a matter of minutes, I was sawing logs (if you don’t know the phrase, look it up haha)! I woke up around 5:30pm after Jo turned the TV off. Strange how the TV being turned on doesn’t bother me but when it’s shut off, it’s like someone ripped the sheets off of me or something! I finally drifted back off to sleep and couldn’t bring myself to roll out of bed until nearly 10pm!

Now, here I am! At 3:30am and I’m wide awake! I just finished up Caitlin’s theme and emailed her the zipped file. I hope she likes it!

Jo’s in bed, snoring like crazy. Every hour or so, he rolls over and either starts having a conversation with me, which doesn’t make sense because he’s asleep or he starts to giggle. It makes me wonder which one of his “Hollywood” girlfriends he’s dreaming of. haha!

I’m actually kind of hungry now. If Jo wasn’t asleep, I think I’d whip myself up a batch of french toast. Mmm. I guess I’ll settle for caramel popcorn and a glass of lemonade!

    Little of this

First and foremost, be warned, this entry will be all over the place!

Do any of you watch Gene Simmons Family Jewels? I absolutely love this show! His kids crack me up, especially Nick! They seem to have a great relationship (parents/kids)! I watched nearly every episode of the marathon today!

Today was pretty uneventful. I napped, which is becoming more and more normal for me and then we went out for a little “Canada Day” dinner. Nothing special, really but it was nice! Now I’m just sitting here with both fans blasting on me because it’s so hot and miserable right now! I complain about the heat a lot, don’t I? If you didn’t know any better, you’d think I was actually planted in the SE Georgia area right now, huh? I feel their pain and while it isn’t that hot (Southern hot), it feels like it sometimes because there is no AC! My butt is sticking to my seat, how annoying?!

I am really looking forward to getting back to Georgia though! I’m still not sure where we’re going to settle (Georgia or Newfoundland) but either way, just to be near family / loved ones is enough to make me happy! I can’t wait to see my mom, dad, sister and nephews! I’ll be there around the time of Trent and Landon’s birthday, so we’re going to try to do a big bbq the first weekend we’re down, and probably along with a pool party at my Aunt’s! I’m also looking forward to seeing Jo’s family again, I really miss them! Sometimes I think I miss them more than my own immediate family, which I guess is because I just felt like I didn’t have enough time with them! I’m sitting here going through all of the pictures I took in Newfoundland and the ones I took on our trip up here! I don’t think I ever posted any of these! I’ll have to do that later tonight!

As you can see, there’s a new theme up. The pink became, well, too pink for me! I’ll keep it in my “vault” in case I ever get another wild-hair on my head and decide to go with something pink-pink again! I doubt it’s going to be any time soon. I’m actually really loving this theme, and quite a bit more than the previous one!

Anyway! There’s about 12 hours left in my contest, so you best get your submissions entered now!!! CONTEST TIME! Thank you to those of you who have already submitted!

    Happy Canada Day

Happy Canada Day to all of you Canadian bloggers and to my Canadian readers!!

Jo is certainly happy about today! We are both feeling better today (Thank you for all the “feel betters” by the way!), so when the alarm went off this morning we both hopped up and got dressed. I drove him the 7 or so miles to work and as we pulled into the parking lot, we noticed there were only about 5 cars parked. I asked if he knew if they were actually off for the day but he said they weren’t told they were and of course, he wouldn’t really know much about how the holiday’s are up here, so he just figured they had to work! We parked near the entrance and he started towards the door but didn’t quite make it inside before a co-worker (who actually had to be there) stepped outside to tell him he’s off, and with pay! Yippee!

For me, it’s just another day home with the hubby and another day I’ll get to irritate the crap out of him. haha! That’s all I did yesterday, well for the time that I was actually awake!! I did a lot of complaining yesterday too, I’m really surprised I didn’t get a bunch of “Do you ever stop complaining?”’s haha! I wasn’t feeling good though and there were a few things that were just bugging the crap out of me!!

Anywho! I have some things to do now!
